Our monthly TOGETHER meeting was extra special this month when we welcome singer and songwriter David Fellingham. Dave's parents were the corps officers at Horsham many years ago, and so it was very much like returning home. The evening consisted of some worship sang, including some of Dave's own songs, and then he spoke on the Holy Spirit and how He wants to come into our lives. Time was spent listening to GOD and we valued some time of His Spirit ministering to us. The evening started with some refreshments, and we enjoyed some home make cakes as well!!!! We thank GOD for a great ending to the day.
A PACKED HALL gathered together for worship on Mothering Sunday. Despite there being many many people away, it was great to be able to see so many, and especially so many new faces. Sadly our band could not play due to personnel being away, but our singing group and worship group supported beautifully. MAD, our Kids Choir also sang a song they had written themselves for the occasion. Lt Nicola led though the meeting and helped us to focus on our household and on those who loved and love us, and for the importance of listening to others. Captain Ian spoke on Influence, and in times for personal prayer and reflection many people came forward to pray and some for specific prayers. God's Spirit came very closely and powerfully in our midst. Songs today included:- Who is on the Lord's Side; Father God I wonder; Teach me to dance; What a Faithful God have I; Befriended; Blessed Assurance. We thank God for this very special time together.

ANIMAL MAGIC returned in the evening to do a show and allow the children of KIDS ALIVE to explore animals a little more. The highlight for many was the rats that climbed all over Cpt Sue and Lt Nicola - very special indeed. Again it was great to see such happy children and over 40 gathered for this special occasion. Thanks Cpt Sue for arranging all this for us.
ANIMAL MAGIC were guests at Chatt-a-Box, our parent and toddler groups, to give children and their parents/carers opportunities to enjoy looking at animals and enjoying exploring them a little more. It was a great morning and especially to see so much excitement among the children - and more so the adults in some situations!
The Home Leaguers enjoyed an afternoon tea together, complete with flowers and classical music!

Monday 28th April

The divisional commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Anthony Cotterill, conducted a review of the corps rolls today and then led a gathering of the corps pastoral care council/leadership team. The meeting reflective very healthy growth and development.

Sunday 27th March

Another full hall gathered together for a day of worship and reflection. We started our day by considering whether we had clean hands - and that was the challenge of Captain Susan from Psalm 24 throughout the morning. Captain Ian led worship which included songs:- Have you been to Jesus?; Would you be free? If on my soul; Thank You for Saving me; My robes are washed in Jesus' Blood; Purify my heart; Give me a Holy Life. Captain Susan looked at how we sometimes worry so much about the outside and forget the inside is that which we are judged on.

Following this, over eighty people sat and enjoyed SUNDAY FEAST, a bi-monthly opportunity to build relationships with each other and invite our friends to a good meal, and then a talk or presentation. Captain Susan did the talk this month, and shared her life story, of how despite so many difficulties and challenges, God has brought her through. In this story she shared songs and pictures and very wise and moving words. We could have listened forever.

Another great day together!

Saturday 26th March

A number of our ladies were away this weekend at LIBERATE, a womens retreat within this division of The Salvation Army, married that together with sickness and holiday, we were not as full as recent weeks, but still welcoming a lovely number of people coming together for worship. Our prelude to worship today included a piece from our learners band, which was lovely to see how they are progressing. Captain Ian led the whole meeting, and songs today included:- I'm gonna jump up and down; When you feel weakest; Meet My Need Lord; Amazing Grace; Draw me close to You; I believe in Jesus; Only by Grace can we enter; Blessed Lord in You is Refuge. The captain took Hebrews 10 as his theme, looking at the call to persevere - and reminding people that when the going gets tough, instead of going (as per the song) but we need to get growing. We looked at the importance of Confidence in our relationship with God; with drawing near to God, holding onto Hope, encouragement and meeting together.

THE FRIDAY LUNCHES AND FRIENDSHIP CLUB continues to grow, and again this week we have seen new faces, despite quite a number being away. Over thirty attended this event. This week we had a special guest, Ken Harvey, who did a musical afternoon for us. Next time, the 1st April, we are going to look at Laughter!
CHATT-A-BOX this week had a themed session entitled the Rainbow Party. The hall was very colourful as was the clothes that many mums, dads, grandparents and children wore. It was a great event, including a special reminder to us that when we see a rainbow, we need to remember that GOD is LOVE
The first LADIES NIGHT OUT was held this week, attended by about twenty ladies and a meal at the beefeater in Horsham was enjoyed.

SELF DENIAL was the focus for our meeting today. We contributed in our gift day towards the annual self denial missionary appeal, and gave sometime to pray for our brothers and sisters in other lands. Captain Ian looked at Luke 9 and explored how God has called us to COME, DENY, TAKE UP AND FOLLOW. Songs today included:- Give us a day of wonders; There shall be showers of Blessing; Come now is the time to worship; Blessed be Your Name; Light of the world You stepped down into darkness; To Thy Cross I come Lord; I'll follow Thee, deny Thee never. Several people spent some time seeking God at the Cross in response to The Word shared today.
